Freddie Broom attended the work session to discuss what he has done in the different cities as far as his Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion class is concerned. More conversations will be held with Mr. Broom in the coming weeks.
I voted no to the building of the 98 lot single-family detached residential sub division on a on a 3.91 unit per acre located at 1689 and 1725 Rockdale Circle. I voted no because a traffic study was not mandatory, despite some of roadways being clogged by excessive traffic. Also, no consideration has been given to the one way in and one way out situation of the subdivision on Rockdale. That is an accident waiting to happen.

Snellville’s First Annual Juneteenth Festival
Councilwoman Solange Destang hosted Snellville’s first ever Juneteenth Festival on the Towne Green on Sunday, June 19, 2022. It was a huge success! This historical event has never taken place in our city before. City Councilwoman Solange Destang, last year before Juneteenth was signed into law as a federal holiday, has scheduled this festival. This festival was hosted to bring all cultures together to honor the legacy of the black experience in this country. The theme this year focused on “Celebrating Fathers.” The program highlighted our black fathers and leaders in this county. It was attended by numerous elected officials, dignitaries, and the community. All cultural communities were represented at this great event. The Snellville Youth Commission came out and volunteered supporting this event, as well as numerous other volunteers, which include some of our elected officials. The program included local poets, singers, and was moderated by Dr Tracy Simmons Fisher. The Family Gwinnett coordinated and organized this event on behalf of the Snellville City Council.
